Killzone 3 Review
February 21, 2011 // 1 CommentKillzone 3 Review.
Killzone 3 is the continuing story of the war between the ISA and Helghast following, almost immediately, on from the ending of Killzone 2; the ISA forces now having to withdraw from the planet, due to a whole set of issues, not least an apparently fully functional battle fleet.
This is probably the most intense and best looking First Person Shooter (FPS) you will find on Sony’s black box, but for all the fantastic, gripping, pulse-pounding action, there seems to have been a loss of some of the darker story tones that, this reviewer certainly felt, added to the whole affair. In fact, the ISA seem to have become a much more “Hoo-Rah!” organisation than was seen in the former games.
So falling into stereotypes we have Sev, the player’s character, together with grumpy-comes-good General Narville, then Rico, the rebel, and Jammer, possibly the most underused female character we’ve seen for a while: Trapped on planet Helghan and forced to fight “behind enemy lines.” That enemy itself is being torn apart because of a poorly explained civil war, although a sub-plot of a military dependent on an industrial business is nice. The real shame of all this is that, because the voice acting is so good, you can’t help liking all the characters and then groaning at some of the dialogue they have to say.
